Production Dodge Demon to be based on Chery’s platforms

Chrysler unveiled the Demon Roadster Concept last year at the Geneva Motor Show and shortly after they decided to put it into production. Not the company announced that the production version will be based on one of Chinese-automaker Chery’s platforms and will be front-wheel drive.

If you thought that Chrysler will switch to front wheel drive due to emissions regulations, you are wrong! The real reason seems to be price. Chrysler has stated that price is a main concern for this market, so be ready to be shocked if the price exceeds that of the Solstice, Sky or MX-5. As this car is b-segment based as will be other future Chrysler vehicles, we’re anticipating a price in the mid teens.

The Demon Roadster will come to replace the Geo Metro convertible, but we can’t give you an exact date of when it will be unveiled.
