Mini will launch its new Convertible next year, with sales beginning in late 2009 at a price of £15000. The new model will bring the open version in line with the updated hatchback range that’s been with us over a year.
Compared to the current model, the future one is slightly longer, neatly hiding the higher, more pedestrian-friendly front end. That length means the cabin will be a bit less cramped, too.
More after the jump.
The 2009 Mini Convertible will be offered in four different versions: One powered by a 1.4 liter engine that delivers 95 hp and a peak torque of 103 lbs-ft; Cooper powered by a 1.6 liter engine that delivers 120 hp and 118 lbs-ft; Cooper S powered by a 1.6 liter engine with a maximum output of 175 hp and a peak torque of 177 hp and finally the diesel version: Cooper D powered by a 1.6 liter engine with an output of 110 hp and 177 lbs-ft of torque.
The engines will be offered with stop/start technology to make journeys as efficient as possible. Both Cooper models will have the option of stiffened sports suspension to tighten up the already great handling.
