Audi R8 - "SportsCar 2007"

Only pure-bred sports cars are crowned “SportsCar” of the year by a panel of experts in the Autobild SportsCars monthly magazine. Following its victory in the March 2007 issue, the Audi R8 has now been awarded top place overall, and has thus secured the title of “SportsCar 2007”, one of the German car industry’s most sought-after awards.

The trophy was presented to Werner Frowein, Managing Director of quattro GmbH, during the magazine’s “Race Night”, which formed part of the Essen Motor Show. The Audi subsidiary was responsible for developing the 420 bhp mid-engined R8 sports car, which it also manufactures. The R8 is hand-built at quattro GmbH in Neckarsulm.

Together with the TÜV Rheinland inspection authority, members of the magazine’s panel conduct demanding on-road tests on an ongoing basis to assess the qualities of the very latest sports cars. They then present their favourites as the monthly winners in each new issue. At the end of October, the jury cast a discerning eye on the twelve winning vehicles at the Contidrom test circuit in Hanover.

The experts’ concluding remarks: “The Audi R8 wins because it is currently the most complete vehicle with the hottest body in the sports segment and, despite being a newcomer, displays no serious weaknesses.”

Opel Astra H Facelift by Steinmetz

The Astra H from 2007 is on route with a new front. For both the Astra H 5-door and the Astra H Estate, Steinmetz Opel-Tuning has developed a new front with an even more striking appearance. The new Steinmetz parts have been developed to fit harmoniously into the overall image and are made with the usual high quality.

Engine

Steinmetz provides more power for the new generation of 1.9 CDTI engines from Opel. For the 150 HP engine, Steinmetz raises the power to 175 HP. Naturally the conversion is available both with and without soot particle filter, and still complies with Euro 4 standards. Safe and sure: Steinmetz gives a 2 year warranty from first registration.

Exhaust

Steinmetz’ trademark is the high gloss polished, trapezoid twin tailpipe silencer. For left or left/ right (5-door only), its unmistakeable appearance and sound leave nothing to be desired, and the quality of fit are convincing. As an option, the twin tailpipe silencer can be fitted to vehicles both with and without rear skirt.

Lowering

The Steinmetz lowering kit of around 30 mm was developed not only for appearance but also to make a decisive contribution to safety and uncompromising driving pleasure. So it is available for both standard suspension and sports suspension with Sport Mode. The Steinmetz springs lower the Astra’s centre of gravity, reducing its tendency to roll on corners and allowing faster direction changes.

Wheel/Tyre Combination

From 16" to 19", Steinmetz has the right wheel and tyre combination for all Steinmetz Astra H. The ST4 can be fitted in size 8.0J x 18“ and the ST5 in 7.5J x 17“. Both wheels are bicolor rims, with a black/silver appearance which intrigues the viewer. The brilliant finish is achieved with a polished surface. The resulting light plays have the desired effect of making both wheels into real eye catchers.

Bodywork/Aerodynamics/Interior Trim

THE outer sign of Steinmetz is the honeycomb front grille. For the Astra H 2007, the striking Steinmetz front grille was developed with a new design with vertical double struts. The new front spoiler with small flippers and outlined air intakes gives the front a more dynamic appearance on both the 5-door and on the Estate.

Extending the lines to the rear, the side skirts have been designed to make the Astra appear even lower. To provide rearward visibility, the electrically adjustable and heated Steinmetz sports mirrors have been adapted to the shape of the Astra.

The solid rear roof spoiler provides more downforce on the rear. Finally, on the same visual line as the side skirts and front skirt, a Steinmetz rear skirt was developed to allow the Astra driver a choice of rear silencers. For standard, left or left/right (5-door only), the rear skirt was developed so that (almost!) every wish can be met. Further bodystyling accessories are the design stripes in silver or anthracite and the aluminium filler cap cover.

In the interior, sill plates, an aluminium handbrake handle and the 4-piece foot mats with Steinmetz logo in stainless steel complete the overall impression of the Astra H.

BMW 335 Coupe gets Hotchkis Sport Suspension

The Hotchkis Sport Suspension 2008 BMW 335 driven by Hotchkis Chief Engineer, Aaron Ogawa, made its competition debut on Thanksgiving weekend at the CSSC Regional Solo at California Speedway.

“We received the car shortly before SEMA and concentrated on making it look great for the show,” said company founder and president John Hotchkis. “Now we will run the BMW at autocross events and track days to gather the data necessary to develop a complete 335 Sport Suspension package. Every part that leaves this facility was developed and tested on the racetrack.”

The brand new BMW was grouped in the highly competitive Street Modified class that featured well developed cars running on R compound street/race tires. The Hotchkis BMW held its own and completed every run.

“The 335 has power and potential,” Ogawa explained. “We were conservative in all aspects for this first event and I can’t wait to make some serious suspension modifications and get back out there.”

Edo Competition LP640 Versione Nardo

A 4am wake-up Espresso has to suffice. The remaining drowsiness disappears as soon as the 6.5 ltr. V12, now with 663 hp, is fired up. Re-torque the wheels once again. After checking the pressure of the new Continental V-max tires the edo competition LP 640 Versione Nardo rolls onto the 12.6 km (7.8 miles) long oval.

Each contestant has 3 laps: The first one as the warm-up lap, the second one as the highspeed lap and the third one as the cool down lap. By now it’s 6am, the sun is rising over the test track. It’s chilly with light winds, but above all - It’s dry. On this Sunday morning the warm-up lap is driven at speeds between 280 and 300 km/h (174-186 mph). Particular attention is paid to vibrations, oil- and water-temperatures. It feels good, the LP 640, and thanks to the newly developed rear wing it’s so fantastically stable, as if the tires were glued to the south-Italian tarmac.

Now it’s on. The second lap counts and the growl of the V12 is turning into an infernal shriek as the revs rise - similar to a chainsaw cutting through a giant sequoia tree. Wide open throttle is the norm now and even at 280 km/h (174 mph) one is still being pushed into the seat.

Meanwhile in 6th gear the raging bull comfortably eclipses the 340 km/h (211 mph) mark, but there’s more. 345.7 km/h (214.8 mph) is what TÜV-Rheinland’s meticulously accurate and incorruptible GPS-based measuring system shows.

Cool down lap – Not without pride the engine is brought back into more sedate rev ranges, with the knowledge to have achieved the fastest ever recorded top speed of a Lamborghini! Even the newly developed rear wing could prove itself in these extreme conditions. No drop in top speed - far from it, and absolutely stable driving behavior even at these high speeds. With this result Edo competition has clearly proven that even small modifications like an ECU recalibration, new high flow air filters and high performance catalytic converters specifically designed for the LP 640 can have a resounding effect.

While for some test drivers heart rates equaling those of top athletes were measured, our results were well within the comfort range with a peak of 150 beats per minute. Driven by this fantastic success the team of edo competition Motorsport will field the Lamborghini Murciélago LP 640 with considerably more power next time. The goal is 700 hp, which should allow for a top speed in excess of 360 km/h (224 mph).

BMW Hydrogen 7 - practical or political?

BMW has gone to great lengths to publicize the “Hydrogen 7,” the hydrogen powered 7 Series loaned to stars with great publicity.

But is there any reality to what BMW is doing, or is the Hydrogen 7 really just a very effective publicity stunt?

Though hydrogen powered vehicles are generally thought of when fuel cells are the actual source of power creation, the Hydrogen 7 is not a fuel cell car. And, therein, lies the real story.

The Hydrogen 7 burns hydrogen in modified BMW V-12 engine. In that respect, it’s a lot like cars that are converted to burn propane. A different fuel is being substituted for gasoline, but it creates power the same way as any other internal combustion engine: moving pistons in cylinders. In fact, the Hydrogen 7 can also burn regular gasoline. Selecting the fuel is simply a matter of moving a switch on the dashboard.

But, in order to burn hydrogen in an internal combustion engine, it must be stored in liquid form. That requires the ability to keep the hydrogen very, very cold. The hydrogen fuel tank in the Hydrogen 7 is insulated, using an insulating material which BMW says has the equivalent properties of 17 meters of Styrofoam in the one inch thick tank insulation. Even though the tank is so well insulated that, according to BMW, it could keep coffee hot for three months, it can’t keep hydrogen inside it for more than a day. The fuel builds pressure in the tank, to the point that it must be vented when the pressure reaches 87 psi. That happens automatically, but it can also vent out half the hydrogen fuel supply into the atmosphere. The car is equipped with a catalytic converter to add oxygen to the venting hydrogen to turn the escaping gas into water vapor.

Then, there is cost: hydrogen is more expensive than gasoline. Even though it creates water vapor as its exhaust, there has been virtually nothing done to assess either the environmental impact of the energy used to manufacture hydrogen or maintain it in liquid form in storage tanks around the country. Similarly, there has been no apparent consideration given to the effect of increasing the atmospheric water content, particularly in areas with concentrated automotive populations.

BMW claims that it is hoping the Hydrogen 7 will encourage more stations selling liquid hydrogen. But, it’s not willing to take the gasoline tank out of the car before loaning it to the stars. That’s probably just as well, for both stars and company. On hydrogen, the range of the Hydrogen 7 is a mere 100 miles with a full tank.

Record Aston Martin goes under Charity Hammer

The V8 Vantage which earlier this year became the first car to cross the Asian Highway will go under the hammer for charity at the Bonhams Important Collectors’ Motor Cars, Pioneer and Vintage Motorcycles and Fine Automobilia auction on December 3 at Olympia in London.

The V8 Vantage which had previously completed 100,000 miles of durability testing was driven from Tokyo to London in a 10,000 mile feat of endurance taking 49 days and crossing through 18 countries.

Driving Home Road Safety was a project aimed to highlight the toll of children’s deaths on the world’s roads and was supported by the Make Roads Safe and Road Safety is no Accident campaigns. The project aims to raise more than €100,000 for UNICEF China to provide road safety tools such as educational books and reflective tape to help reduce the horrific child death toll on China’s roads.

Drivers Richard Meredith and Phil Colley skilfully guided the Vantage through terrain unbefitting to a low slung sports car, experiencing extreme heat, incomplete roads, and bureaucracy to hamper their progress.

David King, Head of Product Communications said: “I am delighted the car performed faultlessly for what was the V8 Vantage’s most challenging test to date.

“China is our newest market, so it is particularly fitting that we are already able to contribute to the local and national community.”

Richard said: “Our V8 Vantage behaved perfectly despite occasional low grade fuel which was all we could lay our hands on in the ‘Stans’, and the rough terrain experienced – we didn’t experience a single problem with the car.

“The car is a piece of history now, and I am thrilled that Aston Martin has decided on its auction,” said Richard. “In the same amount of time it took us to complete our 49 day trip an estimated 150,000 people were killed on the world’s roads – a figure which includes 25,000 children. I hope that the money will go someway to help resolve this tragic problem.”

The car will be sold in its original form complete with sponsors’ livery, dirt and knocks from the trip. All money raised from the auction will be sent to the UNICEF China fund.

Audi R8 by ABT Sportsline

Design milestones of sports car construction do not only come from Sant’ Agata Bolognese or Maranello but also from Kempten. Because there, in the picturesque Allgäu region, Abt Sportsline, the greatest tuner for vehicles from the Volkswagen group, is based.

With the new Abt R8, the term "improvement" is set one level higher as this car combines technical competence and brilliant design from Abt and results in an automobile masterwork. Not more and not less. The Abt R8 is a fantastic super sports car, playing in the same league as Lamborghini Gallardo or Ferrari F430.

No doubt, even the basis model of the R8 is something special - and therefore a real challenge, emphasizes Hans-Jürgen Abt. "The fluently dynamic form of the car is unique, it looks like having a lot of power, even when standing still," admits the managing director and therewith he raises the bar for his engineers and designers. As it is usual for Abt, the result is quite respectable and can be driven with fascination.

The light and sporty high-tech material Carbon well visibly shapes the rear skirt, the side blades and the side skirts. The exciting body kit of the two-seater was developed by the motor sports professionals from Kempten who also optimized the car in reducing weight and in distributing mass evenly. That optical features do not obviate technical sophistications but, on the contrary, lead to perfection clearly show the contours of the Abt R8. Front skirt, side skirts, and rear skirt form a unit in which the rear wing, the side blades and also the exhaust system are harmonically integrated. A special highlight is the front skirt partially made of sight carbon.

It is a component of the equipment version "Extravagant". The customer is able to provide his Abt R8 with attachment parts, at his own option with elements of sight carbon. A two tone structure is also possible by request. Another alternative ist the equipment version “Exclusive”, which offers the customer the possibility to beautify his R8 with an Abt body kit made of high-quality GRP (glass fibre reinforced plastic). Also the new BR wheel from Abt with its bi-colour paint perfectly fits the car. The front axis presents it in the size 9x20 inch, the rear axis in 11x20 inch. Thus the R8 appears much more dynamical. With Abt suspension springs and car lowering the team from Kempten improves the road holding even more as Christian Abt and his specialists exactly adjusted the suspension. With the Abt sports brake system (380 millimeters diameter), the fast super sports car from the Allgäu sets standards also in matters of delay.

The new Abt R8 is a car which makes hearts beat faster. It perfectly brings the magic of speed onto the road even when standing still.

JAS Honda Civic Type R R3

JAS Motorsport’s Honda Civic Type R R3 will make its gravel debut on the Wales Rally Great Britain this week, the final round of the 2007 World Rally Championship. Former Junior World Champion Dani Sola will drive the car in Great Britain, having given the Civic Type R R3 its asphalt World Championship debut on the Catalunya Rally in Spain last month. In that event, Sola won the R3 class against well-established opposition.

Although the car has proved its credentials on tarmac – most recently with a remarkable fifth overall on the Rallye du Valais in Switzerland – gravel will be a whole new challenge. The Rally GB, which runs through the forests of south Wales, is one of the most challenging gravel events that drivers face in the WRC. There is also a bigger entry list than has been seen on any other WRC event this year, with 121 cars expected at the start in Cardiff.

The R3 Type R complies with new FIA rally regulations. The class is for two-litre, two-wheel drive cars that have been built to a strict set of cost-effective criteria. The Civic Type R R3 is powered by a new Honda engine developed by JAS Motorsport in collaboration with Mugen.

Dani Sola says: “Great Britain is one of my favourite gravel events because the stages really reward commitment. However, we are not underestimating the challenge ahead of us. As a team, we haven’t competed on gravel since July – and this new R3 car has never competed on gravel at all. Our mission will be to get the car to the finish and try to prove that we can be as competitive on gravel as we are on asphalt.”

Stefano Fini, JAS Motorsport’s chief engineer, added: “Our new R3 car is now on sale for our customers. The car is fully ready for any 2008 season, and we have already had a lot of interest from several different drivers and teams. We are confident that we will provide a competitive package for our customers, who will become valued members of the Honda family.”

The Wales Rally GB runs from November 30 to December 2.

2008 Mitsubishi Concept-RA

Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) and Mitsubishi Motors North America Inc. (MMNA, based in Cypress California) will premiere MITSUBISHI Concept-RA to the world at the 2008 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS or the Detroit Motor Show).

MITSUBISHI Concept-RA fuses a passion for dynamic, exciting driving with a heightened sensitivity for the environment thanks to clean, efficient high performance diesel power. The 2008 NAIAS runs from January 13 to 27 at the Cobo Center in Detroit and opens to the general public on January 19.

MITSUBISHI Concept-RA shows that thrilling performance and environmental responsibility need not be mutually exclusive concepts. This coupe concept features the Super All Wheel Control (S-AWC) vehicle dynamics control system driveline and the Twin Clutch SST automated manual transmission used in Lancer Evolution*1, is powered by a new high-output, high-efficiency clean diesel engine.

2008 Radical SR8 and SR5

Radical, an UK sports car manufacturer announced that the Radical SR8 and the SR5 will be re-newed in time for the Autosport International in January. Both will make their debut on Dunlop "Great & British" Motorsport Festivals stand.

The 2008 Radical SR8 is equipped with a new eight-throttle body induction system and is powered by a Powertec RPA 2.6 liter V8 engine developing 20 hp more, giving the Radical SR8 a total of 380 hp. Radical also offers a 455 hp 2.8 liter Powertec V8 engine that is available only for non-Radical organized races. The 2008 Radical SR8 is available with the Powertec Ptec transaxle with semi-automatic flat shift and auto blipper gear shift system.

Naturally we continue to develop our flagship cars, reducing lap times and improving driveability year on year. With these new cars we are also taking major steps forward in driver safety. We will put the chassis through the same rigorous tests that our SR9 LMP2 car had to endure. We have also introduced a head restraint system and a Radical HANS device. Audi MTM Bimoto - fastest modified car in the world

A new episode from the annual tuner confrontation took place at the speed track Nardo in Italy. Purpose? To find out who is the fastest modified car in the world. And this years winner id the MTM Audi Bimoto.

Based on the Audi TT, the MTM Bimoto is equipped with two four cylinder turbo-engine. Even the starting performance makes overwhelming driving powers possible. Because of further engine-modifications together is a maximum 1000 HP possible. At Nardo Bimoto hit a top speed of 390.6 km/h or 242.7 mph.

Second place was taken by Sportec’s Porsche 997 SPR1 with a top speed of 378,4 km/h and third place by Porsche 911 997 by TechArt with a top speed of 358,2 km/h.

Three American automotive icons, Ford Motor Company, the Barrett-Jackson Auction Company and Shelby Automobiles, have collaborated to create collector car history with a limited edition 2008 Mustang Shelby GT. The companies today unveiled the 2008 Barrett-Jackson Shelby GT based on the Ford Mustang at the Arizona International Auto Show.

With an MSRP beginning at US$38,980.00, a total of 100 2008 Barrett-Jackson Shelby GTs, in both coupe and convertible body styles, will be sold through Arizona Region Ford dealers beginning today. The purchase price of each car will include a $250 donation to the Carroll Shelby Children’s Foundation

Gran Turismo wants to become the best game of 2007-2008. With a target number of 900 cars, Yamauchi and company are taking the kitchen sink approach of throwing everything in possible.

The latest, big news from GT5 is that will feature the Ford GT LM Edition. All the cool cars will race on Laguna Seca, Infineon or Nordschliefe.

Hennessey Venom GT

A few days ago we reported that Hennessey is working on a 1000 hp supercar. Today the tuning company released the first info about the concept version. To be called Venom GT, the future supercar will make its public debut sometime in 2009. The car will be built in a very limited edition.

Penned by British auto designer, Steve Everitt, the Venom GT would incorporate Hennessey’s potent Venom 1000 Twin Turbo Viper V10 powerplant into a light weight mid-engine chassis weighing "under 2,700 lbs". Power would be run through a 6-speed transmission or optional sequential gearbox.

With a power to weight ratio of just 2.7 lbs per bhp Hennessey estimates that the Venom GT could attain 0 to 100 km/h times in less than 2.5 sec. and a 0-300 km/h time of around 14 seconds. Company founder, John Hennessey, is careful to point out that the Venom GT is not being built as a ’Veyron Slayer’. Hennessey point out, saying, ’The Venom is an ultra fast and ultra luxurious grand touring car which also happens to be quicker and faster than any other road car, except for our Venom 1000 Twin Turbo SRT which beat the Veyron earlier this year from 0-200 mph. The Venom GT will be a much more engaging sports car t Venom 1000 Twin Turbo SRTo drive by challenging the driver with 1000+ HP in a chassis that is nearly 1500 lbs lighter than the Veyron.’

Hennessey said, ’The company already has existing Venom 1000 Twin Turbo clients interested in ordering the lighter, mid-engined Venom GT. "Right now are taking a serious look at building 2 concept cars that could be shown to the public sometime in 2009. If there is enough demand we may consider doing a very limited production run of the Venom GT.’

If the Venom GT goes into production, it would be built at the company’s facility at Lonestar Motorsports Park which is located just west of Houston, Texas.

Ferrari F430 Scuderia at LA Auto Show

Ferrari’s newest high-performance two-seater Berlinetta, the 430 Scuderia, made its nationwide debut at the Los Angeles International Auto Show, giving evidence of the brand’s tradition and ability to translate Formula One technology into its production vehicles.

With a dry weight of 2775 lb (1250 kg) and 503 HP (510 CV) delivered at 8500 rpm by its naturally aspirated 4308 cm3 V8 engine, the 430 Scuderia boasts an extraordinarily low weight-power ratio of just 2.45 kg/hp, which allows it to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds.

Thanks to its sophisticated aerodynamics, F1-SuperFast2 gearbox, that brings to just 60ms the gear-shifting time, and E-Diff coupled with the sophisticated F1-Trac traction control system, this sporty new mid-rear engined berlinetta combines ultra-nimble handling with blistering fast acceleration.

According to Maurizio Parlato, President and Chief Executive Officer for Ferrari North America, Inc., the new Scuderia exceeds its North American clients’ expectations.

"The 430 Scuderia features a racing soul, which symbolizes the very passion and excitement that enthusiasts around the world have come to expect from Ferrari," said Parlato. "Our North American customers specifically have played a significant role in our owner’s racing programs for nearly 15 years, and now we have a vehicle to share that spirit for street driving, while maintaining a stunning example of our racing heritage. For 2008, 250 cars will be available to this market".

2008 Aston Martin V8 Vantage N400 Roadster

Aston Martin revealed the Roadster version of the V8 Vantage N400 Coupe launched in September at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The V8 Vantage N400 Roadster will be limited to only 24o units.

The Vantage N400 Roadster includes a number of technical improvements as well as enhancements to the car’s standard range of renowned colour and trim specifications. These include a power upgrade to Aston Martin’s 4.3 litre V8 engine, lifting peak power to 400bhp and peak torque to 420Nm. The car also comes equipped with a new Sports Pack which offers subtly different driving dynamics tailored to enthusiasts who seek even more responsive handling.

The Sports Pack comprises a unique lightweight graphite-finished aluminium wheel with diamond turning, up-rated springs and dampers and a new rear anti-roll bar (for the Coupe). The Vantage N400 Roadster also includes a number of exterior design changes, including a revised side sill design, Magnum Silver bonnet and side strake meshes, clear rear lamp lenses and a bright finish grille.

Ford Fusion by Galpin Auto Sport

One of the customized Ford models presented at Los Angeles Auto was a Fusion with Galpin Auto Sport. A performance suspension keeps the 19-inch wheels and Nitto Invo tires glued to the road. Inside, a Katzkin leather interior, features a six-point roll cage, leather and suede steering wheel and GAS custom audio system.

This 2007 Ford Fusion is ready for the racetrack courtesy of Galpin Auto Sports. The turbocharged V-6 pump out 350 horsepower driving all four wheels. Gears are selected via a six-speed paddle-shift transmission. An APR Performance carbon front splitter and rear wing and 3D Carbon body kit provide the necessary aerodynamics while the MRT lightweight functional ram-air hood feeds the motor.

2009 Hyundai Genesis Coupe

Hyundai unveiled its highly anticipated Concept Genesis Coupe during a press conference at the Los Angeles International Auto Show today. The concept car heralds the introduction of an all-new, rear-wheel drive 2 + 2 sports coupe scheduled to join the Hyundai lineup in the spring of 2009. Following the introduction earlier this year of the Concept Genesis sedan, Concept Genesis Coupe signals Hyundai’s second step in broadening its appeal to driving enthusiasts.

• The production version of the sports coupe arrives in the spring of 2009

The Sonic Orange concept is complemented by a Ballistic Black carbon fiber hood, roof and ground effects for reduced weight. Strong hints of the production version are highlighted in its “Z” bodylines and powerful curves. When the production sports coupe arrives, it likely will be the most affordable 300+ horsepower car on the market, and the most dynamic performance car yet from Hyundai.

“Concept Genesis Coupe is the most thrilling, most emotional Hyundai yet,” said John Krafcik, vice president, product development and strategic planning, Hyundai Motor America. “When it hits the market in early 2009, we aim to deliver a driving experience that challenges cars like Infiniti G37, at prices more like Mitsubishi Eclipse.”

DESIGN PROCESS

“The mission for Concept Genesis Coupe was to create a pure performance car with a design that would capture the imagination of hardcore automotive enthusiasts,” said Joel Piaskowski, chief designer at the Hyundai Design Center in Irvine, Calif. “With its aggressive look from just about any angle, I think we have been able to do that.”

The powerful curves, surface detail and “Z” bodyside lines come straight from the same underlying inspiration that guided two earlier, well-received concepts: the HCD9 Talus and the HCD8 sports tourer. The undulating beltline borrowed from the Talus adds intrigue while enhancing outward visibility for both the driver and rear passengers. The HCD8 sports tourer’s sensual body forms influenced the overall design theme while also providing direction for the concept’s assertive headlight and taillight designs.

The look of Concept Genesis Coupe was in part inspired by LeMan’s race cars, drifters and by Jada Toys Dub City™ die cast vehicles. The front and rear stance of the Concept Genesis Coupe can be described as sinister.

“Beauty and danger co-exist in the design of the Concept Genesis Coupe,” said Eric Stoddard, senior creative designer. “When viewed from a distance, the car is beautiful to look at. But up close it can appear a bit menacing and even a little intimidating.”

The concept’s rocker panels are drawn close to the ground making the bodysides extra thick and the daylight opening extremely thin, allowing the wheels to be slammed up into bulging fenders. To complete the aggressive sports car look, the depth between the fenders and the greenhouse has been maximized.

Three large heat extractors sculpted into the hood are designed to cool just about any powerful engine. When the concept becomes reality, three large openings in the front fascia will allow for better engine breathing. The dual exhaust tips integrated into the rear fascia repeat the design theme of the front cooling ducts and are surrounded by a large carbon fiber air diffuser.

An arching roofline and tapering greenhouse highlight the exterior profile and emphasize the car’s broad shoulders and wide stance. Concept Genesis Coupe rides on 20-inch polished aluminum deep-dish wheels with Hankook 255/35 ZR front tires and 275/35 ZR rear tires.

2009 Jaguar XF pricing announced

Jaguar North America announced today at the Greater Los Angeles Auto Show the U.S. Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) for their newest model, the 2009 Jaguar XF. The XF will launch with the starting MSRP price of $49,975 (USD).

"This is the New Jaguar" says Marti Eulberg, executive vice president Sales and Marketing, Jaguar North America, "The well-equipped 2009 XF sedan will go on sale March 1, 2008 at an MSRP under $50,000 with a standard V8 engine."

"The 2009 XF showcases Jaguar’s leadership in automotive design, with stunning craftsmanship, quality and dynamic refinement, while offering exceptional standard equipment and exciting advanced technology," adds Eulberg. "This groundbreaking sedan is proof that Jaguar is moving boldly into the future with seductively-designed cars that are head-turning and of the highest quality."

The introduction of the XF signals a dramatic new design and engineering direction for Jaguar. Challenging convention and setting its own rules, the new Jaguar XF fuses the style and performance of a sports car with the refinement, space and sophistication of a modern luxury sedan.

The 2009 XF will be priced starting at $49,975 MSRP for the V8 Luxury model. The V8 Premium Luxury XF will have a base MSRP of $55,975. Nissan GT-R at Dubai Motor Show

Nissan will offer automotive enthusiasts a vehicle line-up that hits the high notes in performance, luxury and elegant design when the 9th Middle East International Motor Show opens at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre this week.

Nissan will showcase a range of all-new products including the GT-R and the Altima Coupe, while the Infiniti spotlight will be on the all-new EX luxury crossover and G37 Coupe.

Less than one month after its global debut at the 40th Tokyo Motor Show, the Nissan GT-R features an all-new 3.8-litre twin turbo V6 "VR38" engine. The GT-R is based on the concept of a new multi-dimensional performance machine that delivers "an ultimate supercar for anyone, anywhere, at anytime". The Nissan GT-R features a newly developed Premium Midship package, including the world’s first independent transaxle 4WD developed independently by Nissan.

Audi S3 by O.CT Tuning

The Austrian tuner O.CT Tuning has taken the Audi S3 to the next level and upgraded the car with an even sportier look as well as an extra helping of power. An extensive engine modification boosts the output of the sporty compact to 328 hp.

Located at Lake Constance, O.CT Tuning modifications help the S3 achieve performance usually attributed to high-end sportscars. The O.CT-engine package Step 3 (5886.- Euros) includes a revised engine management fine tuned on the companies own dynamometer.

In addition to this, the stock Y-pipe is replaced with a Y-pipe connected to a catalytic converter by HJS designed for racing purposes. A sport exhaust with a butterfly valve enhances the throaty engine note Air intake and intercooler are also modified. The results: 328 hp and 425 Newtonmeters (313 pound feet) as opposed to 265 hp and 350 Newtonmeters (258 pound feet) in stock form.0-100 km/h times (0-62 mph) drop from 6,4 to 5,7 seconds, 0-160 km/h (0-100 mph) is reduced from 14,3 to 12,74 seconds. Top speed also increases from 250 km/h (155 mph) to 265 km/h (165 mph).

A fully adjustable O.CT-coilover suspension (1499 Euros) designed especially fort he S3 significantly increases comering prowess and speeds.

Of course, the brakes cannot be left unchanged in light of this dramatic increase inperformance. An 8-piston brake caliper system with 372 mm discs/rotors (3850 Euros) at the front axle is more than a match for the O.CT Tuning S3s acceleration.The rear stock discs/rotors can also be exchanged for slotted versions.

O.CT D7 19-inch alloy wheels (8,5 x 19 inch, 2440 Euros without tires) in various colors (black, super polished, etc.) complement the sporty look of the O.CT Tuning S3.

Audi R8 Spider - official images?

We just found this images of the R8 Spider. Source said they are official images of the R8, but we suppose is just a simple photoshop. In any case, the car looks amazing!

The R8 spider will be powered by the same 4.2-litre V8 naturally aspirated engine found in the RS4 and R8 tin-top. The maximum output is 414 hp.

Lighter Murcielago coming in 2008

Lamborghini will unveil a new monstrous, lightweight, rear-drive rocketship supercar late next

year. Powered by a V12 engine the new monster will have even more power than the 650 hp Reventon.

The new model will be dubbed "SV", the new two-wheel drive Murcielago will be 100kg lighter than the LP640. It will loose the front differential and driveshafts saving more than 40kg.

The latter will become carbonfibre central; the inner door skins, the seat shells and the centre tunnel are all expected to be made from the stuff. The Murcielago SV will receive all-new forged and machined alloy rims, which will save at least 6kg per corner themselves

It will be powered by a 6.5-litre V12 engine that will develop around 680bhp and 516 lbs-ft peak of torque. It will come as standard with the E-Gear transmission.
